Getting Started

Besides being an enthusiastic hoof trimmer, I’m really keen on getting those who are interested, to start trimming their own  horses. Some people don’t want to do this and that’s fine. But if you have even a flicker of interest in picking up a rasp, then  I can support you.

I can point you in the direction of some good education (a one or two-day clinic with a reputable provider). I can suggest the best books and websites. Some are better than others.

I can provide you with a list of the tools you will need, where you can get them from, and what they will cost.

I can come whenever you book me, to oversee the job you are doing, until you have the confidence to go it alone.

I can provide phone and email support and plug you into a network of others who are taking on the task of trimming their own neddies.

Australian Hoof Care Association MembersThere are trimmers, trainers, and organisations dedicated to fostering education and knowledge in the burgeoning barefoot trim business. Continuing education and training are vital for anybody - whether they are trimming hundreds of horses or just looking after their own equine.

Garrett is continually researching and developing better hoof boots. He has approved a number of Australian trimmers, as Accredited EasyCare Natural Hoof Care Advisors. I'm one of them. Here's the link:
